On the 5th, AI company Antropic unveiled its new AI model, "Claude Opus 4.6." This model demonstrates significantly superior performance in real-world tasks such as coding, data research, and document creation.
According to Antropik, Opus 4.6 achieved top scores in several tests. In particular, it significantly outperformed OpenAI's GPT-5.2 in tests assessing professional skills such as finance and law. It also ranked first in coding proficiency and outperformed other AI models in solving complex problems.
The most significant improvement in this model is its ability to maintain focus and work for extended periods. While previous AIs often forgot previous content during prolonged conversations, Opus 4.6 can effectively remember and utilize vast amounts of information. It also operates more reliably when handling large amounts of program code and has improved its ability to detect errors on its own.
Newly added features are also noteworthy. The "Adaptive Thinking" feature automatically adjusts the depth of AI thinking based on the difficulty of the task. It responds quickly to simple tasks and delves deeper into difficult ones. Users can choose from four levels of "effort level" to prioritize speed over accuracy.
Functions useful for everyday work have also been enhanced. Claude in Excel, which integrates with Excel, has seen significant performance improvements, and Claude in PowerPoint, which integrates with PowerPoint, has also been newly released. Claude in PowerPoint analyzes the user's fonts and layout to create presentations tailored to the company's design.
Claude Code, a coding tool, has added the ability for multiple AI agents to work together as a team. This allows complex projects to be divided into multiple parts and worked on simultaneously, increasing efficiency.
Safety was also a priority. Antropic stated that this model underwent the most extensive safety testing to date. Problematic behaviors, such as lying or cooperating with dangerous requests, were rare, and excessive refusals to answer safe questions were also low.
