Sony's new noise-canceling earphones leaked

Sony's next-generation premium wireless noise-canceling earphones, the WF-1000XM6, have been revealed with leaked renders, confirming a design change. Sony's new flagship wireless earphones adopt a distinctly different appearance from the existing series, signaling a generational shift.

According to leaked renders, the WF-1000XM6 will adopt a design closer to a pill shape, moving away from the traditional round shape. Three grill-like holes can be seen on the outside of the earbuds, some of which may be used as external microphones. If the internal microphone is included, there is also speculation that there could be a total of four microphones per earbud.

The charging case has also seen changes. It now has a more angular shape than before, with flat tops and bottoms. The material appears to have shifted from glossy plastic to matte, and two colors have been confirmed: black and platinum silver.

Basic specifications are said to include IPX4-rated water resistance and support for Active Noise Cancellation's ambient sound mode. The eartip structure also appears to have been modified, suggesting the removal of the internal silicone layer found in previous models. This could impact the fit, seal, and bass response.

The WF-1000XM6 is expected to be released on February 12th. This will be Sony's second new earphone product, following the LinkBuds Clip unveiled in January. With Samsung Electronics and Apple also expected to release next-generation wireless earphones around the same time, competition in the premium wireless earphone market is expected to intensify.
