HP has unveiled the EliteBoard G1a, a new desktop form factor that houses an entire PC within the keyboard. HP describes this product as a full AI PC built into the keyboard and announced it as a CES 2026 Innovation Award winner.
The EliteBoard G1a isn't an all-in-one PC with an integrated monitor; instead, the keyboard itself functions as the computer itself. Users can connect an external display to create their own work environment, and the product is interpreted as targeting both portability and a minimalist desk setup. HP has highlighted hybrid work and hot desking as key usage scenarios.
The core specifications are based on the AMD Ryzen AI 300 series. Depending on the configuration, enterprise processor options are available, boasting AI computing performance of up to 50 TOPS based on the NPU. Memory is reportedly available up to 64GB, and storage up to 2TB.
A notable aspect of the product design is its modular design for repair and upgrades. HP explains that opening the bottom panel allows for replacement of core components such as the RAM, SSD, battery, speakers, fan, and wireless module. The keyboard top is also replaceable, a move intended to reduce maintenance costs for corporate IT departments.
Portability was also emphasized. Reports suggest the device weighs between 1.49 and 1.69 pounds, depending on battery and cable configuration, and measures approximately 17mm thick. The battery model is claimed to last approximately 3.5 hours, with even longer standby time.
Connectivity has been simplified to USB-based. It's also reported that the device offers a USB-C port, including USB4, and that it can be configured with multiple external 4K displays. It also boasts built-in stereo speakers and dual microphones, suggesting it's designed for video conferencing and voice-based AI capabilities.
The launch is expected around March 2026, but the price has not been disclosed. Some media outlets have reported on-site comments suggesting that it could be priced lower than a laptop, and the market is watching closely to see if it will become a new corporate desktop option, bridging the gap between mini PCs, laptops, and all-in-one PCs.
