The Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL Guadalajara), the largest publishing event in Latin America, will take place from November 29 to December 7 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The honorary city for this year's event is Barcelona, Spain, and there will be a variety of programs highlighting the city's literature and arts.
Founded in 1987 by the University of Guadalajara, the book fair is the largest of its kind in Latin America, with a unique format that engages both the publishing industry and the general public. Participants can engage in business exchanges among publishing professionals, as well as cultural events and academic discussions centered around literature.
This year's campaign is a visual interpretation of Barcelona's literary landscape. Art directed by Barcelona-based design studio Bakoom Studio, the graphic identity conveys a new generation of literature and emotion. The campaign centers around the message "In November, flowers will come," a quote from author Mercedes Rodoreda.
During the nine-day fair, the city is filled with cultural content - not just literature, but music movies theater and more. Readers get to meet authors from around the world, and the publishing industry gets the chance to build new networks.
The general public can visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on November 29 and 30 and December 4-7, and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on December 1-3. On Friday, December 5, the museum will have special extended hours until 11pm.
Dedicated viewing hours for publishing industry professionals are December 1-3 from 9am to 5pm.
The event will take place at the Expo Guadalajara (Av. Mariano Otero 1499) in downtown Guadalajara.
