Nike's design system, Podium, brings unity and scalability to its entire digital experience.
Podium is not just a design asset management tool, but Nike’s core digital infrastructure that spans consumer systems, core systems, and the entire enterprise. Leading the charge is Senior Director Mariana Bukvic, with key leadership from Jimmy Soat, Hayley Hughes, and Eric Thompson.
The brand name 'Podium' is inspired by the podium, which symbolizes the best position in sports. Nike emphasizes "victory as a team, OneNike spirit" through this, and it contains the meaning that various departments within the organization work together under one goal. In addition, Podium expressed the organic nature of the design system that evolves like a changing algorithm in visual language.
The branding project was carried out in collaboration with creative agencies Instrument and Kurppa Hosk, with the help of copy director Todd Murphy and writer Alexander Basek, who developed the brand identity and copy.
