Microsoft Copilot Major Update

Microsoft is making a major update to its AI assistant, Copilot. Mustafa Suleiman, CEO of Microsoft AI, declared on his official blog, “We are now moving beyond ‘Everyone’s Copilot’ to create ‘Your Copilot.’”

Copilot evolves from a simple AI to a companion that understands the user’s life. With the user’s permission, it remembers conversations and understands personal contexts such as stories about dogs and families and exercise routines. Based on this, it provides advice and support tailored to each individual’s tastes and interests. Microsoft calls this “a new relationship with technology.”

In terms of functionality, Copilot has also been significantly enhanced. The 'Memory' function remembers information such as birthdays or favorite foods and makes personalized suggestions. Personal information can be managed at any time through the user dashboard and you can choose whether to remember it or not. Microsoft emphasized the principle that "the user is always in control."

The 'Actions' feature is also notable. Users can entrust Copilot with things like booking concert tickets, dinner reservations, and gift orders using just natural language commands. This feature is linked to various websites through partnerships with Expedia, Booking.com, OpenTable, etc.

The 'Vision' feature greatly expands Copilot's ability to perceive reality. It can diagnose the condition of plants or get advice on room interiors in real time through a smartphone camera, and in the PC version, it reads and responds to the screen in multiple apps and browser windows. The Windows app can be called up with the shortcut Alt+Space and will be released soon through the Insider program.

Additionally, the 'Pages' feature organizes complex information and content into a single canvas, helping users create, organize, and edit drafts. The 'Podcasts' feature automatically generates interest-based audio content and can even create narrative broadcasts based on user-provided documents or website information.

In addition, the ‘Shopping’ function performs price comparison and discount information, and even provides purchasing support, while ‘Deep Research’ quickly performs complex information exploration to support research and analysis work. ‘Copilot Search’ combines generative AI with Bing search to provide rich, citation-based responses.
