Reddit, the largest online community in the United States, has released 'Reddit Answers', an AI-based feature to help users use the platform efficiently. The feature is designed to analyze and summarize various conversations on Reddit, making it easier for users to find the information they want.
Reddit Answers provides relevant answers to questions based on posts and comments registered on the Reddit platform. It not only summarizes the answers to questions, but also links to related posts and communities to support further exploration. Reddit says the goal is to enable users to consume more content.
When you type in a question like how to modify your BMW, the AI will list out useful information from related posts. Unlike Meta AI or X's Grok, which can have general conversations, Reddit Answers offers features that are specific to questions.
Reddit VP of Product Serkan Piantino explained that the feature is focused on improving the search capabilities of the platform and helping more users engage with Reddit content. The feature is built on AI models from OpenAI and Google Cloud, and Reddit has licensed data from both companies to make it available.
Currently, Reddit Answers is only available in English and is being tested with a small number of iPhone users. In the future, we plan to expand the service to Android users and in multiple languages. We expect to use AI to accurately provide information that is relevant to users’ questions and increase the usability of content on the Reddit platform.
