Evernote has released a major update, version 11. This version is the first major release since version 10 in 2020 and is considered a milestone, building on the technological foundations accumulated over the past several years.
The core of v11 is the evolution of Evernote into a personal second brain. While maintaining the existing structure of notes, notebooks, spaces, tasks, and tags, we've placed AI at the center, elevating information management and productivity to the next level. This version introduces three key new AI features.
The AI Assistant is a conversational feature developed in collaboration with OpenAI. Users can search and summarize notes and rewrite documents within the chat window. They can also create schedules and to-do lists based on existing notes, create new notes, and move them to specific notebooks. Web searches can even be handled within Evernote, reducing the need to switch between external tools.
Semantic search goes beyond traditional keyword-based search to provide meaning-based search. Even if the search term isn't directly included in the note, it will appear as a result if the context is similar. Key information, like flight numbers and reservation information, appears directly at the top of the search results, significantly speeding up information retrieval.
AI Meeting Notes automatically transcribes audio recordings, identifying speakers, and providing summaries. It can be used in a variety of situations, including meetings, lectures, and interviews, and currently supports recordings of up to one hour.
Evernote states that all AI features are designed with security and privacy in mind. Users can individually disable each AI feature in the settings.
This update also includes improvements to the editor and navigation. Enhancements to the slash command menu, link preview selection, and automatic formula calculation have been added, and the mobile editing experience will also be gradually improved.
