Telegram has announced its first update of 2026. This update highlights the broader adoption of the Liquid Glass interface on iOS and the addition of AI summaries to channel posts and Instant View pages. Telegram emphasized that all features are designed to maximize privacy and protect user data.
AI Summaries instantly condense and display long channel posts. They're designed to help users quickly grasp key content without having to read the entire post. An automatic AI summary is also displayed at the top of the Instant View page, allowing users to easily view content in web document format at a glance.
Telegram stated that this summary feature is powered by an open-source model running on Cocoon, a decentralized network designed to maximize privacy, with each request securely encrypted to protect user data. They added that Cocoon can be integrated into other AI applications, with developer documentation detailing this.
The design changes will be noticeable to iOS users. Liquid glass, including transparent elements and refractive effects, has been applied throughout the Telegram iOS app, giving screen transitions and layering a more glass-like appearance. Users can adjust interface effects in Power Saving Mode in Settings to improve performance and extend battery life.
Telegram reiterated its update cadence. It revealed that it released over 75 features across 13 major updates throughout 2025, with an average interval of 26 days between updates. Sometimes, new features were added in as little as eight days, and it cited instances where a secure group currency and a futures marketplace were released in the same period.
