Nike's next-generation basketball shoe, the 'Nike GT Future', which was first unveiled at the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend, will be officially released at the end of this year. The GT Future, which is attracting attention as the latest in Nike's performance basketball shoe 'Greater Than' series, is a model that combines the most advanced lower body technology of Nike basketball shoes with futuristic design.
The GT Future combines a forefoot-mounted Air Zoom unit, a full-length Zoom Strobel, and a Cushlon 3.0 midsole for responsiveness and support. It delivers fast, powerful first steps, rebounds, and propulsion for highlight dunks throughout the game. The sole is designed to be wide at the forefoot and heel for stability, while the built-in bootie and padded heel lock system keep your foot firmly in place.
The form is characterized by a sculptural and industrial design, and a seamless futuristic appearance. “The GT Future is a radical expression of Nike’s innovation, materials, and shapes, and a shoe for a new generation,” said Nike Design Director Jason Petrie. “The moment you put on a new shoe, it feels fast and light, and it gives a wow point like a spaceship or a sports car.”
There are also various colors. The all-black model that initially attracted attention, the orange 'Fire', metallic silver, and yellow 'Lightning' colors are scheduled to be released at the end of the year, and various colors will continue until early 2026. In particular, it attracted attention when rapper Wale and high school basketball prospect AJ Divancha wore it at NBA All-Star Weekend, and Wale introduced new colors such as 'Copper Eggplant', 'Tear Blue', 'Volt Green', and 'Electric Green' through various performances and SNS. Some promotional versions have an LED swoosh, but it is not applied to general sales products.
The price is set at $200, and there is a possibility of a slight increase due to tariffs. Nike actively reflects the needs of basketball culture and the next generation of players through this product. The GT Future will be available for purchase on Nike’s official website and in select stores during the holiday season this year, with more colors and limited edition versions to follow.
