Released in August 2026, Redward is a serif typeface that reinterprets the lineage of Edward Benguiat&#039;s ITC Bookman. Wide letter widths, a high x-height, and thick, slab-shaped serifs create a fundamental impression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Redward consists of Roman and Mono series, each offering six weights and italics. It was designed with both display and body text typesetting in mind, and a variable font system allows for continuous adjustment of axes such as Weight, Slant, and Mono. It is designed so that even within the same letter structure, the characteristics of the form change significantly as the weight changes. Marc Luo was also influenced by the signage lettering found in bodegas, small restaurants, and internet cafes in cities around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The typeface design was handled by Marc Rouault, with Calvin Kwok handling engineering and mastering, and Igino Marini responsible for kerning. Art direction was handled by Lucas Sharp and Marc Rouault, graphic design by Justin Sloane, and copywriting by Theodore Jahng.
