Xiaomi has unveiled its next-generation operating system, HyperOS 4. This update redesigns the interface around a new visual system that Xiaomi calls "Life-like Aesthetics." It is characterized by utilizing the relationships between light, materials, and space to make the screen respond to user interactions and the surrounding environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The key element is 'Soft Light Glass.' The translucent glass-like UI adjusts its transparency to match the background and content. When you press a button or drag an element, the light moves along with the movement. You can adjust the position and size of the clock on the lock screen, and notifications can be stacked for navigation. On the home screen, you can resize folders and stack multiple widgets in a single space. A new floating frame that adapts to screen size has also been implemented in the smartphone and tablet apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AI capabilities have also been expanded across the entire operating system. Super XiaoAi 2.0, based on the Xiaomi MiMo model, supports tasks such as launching navigation by pointing at a location on the screen, finding products within images, and adding schedule information to a calendar. Long-duration AI tasks are processed in the background via 'Xiaomi HyperIsland,' and the progress status can be checked. As of July 31, 2026, HyperIsland supports over 130 services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The performance structure has also been refined. In Xiaomi's internal tests, the time required to launch 30 apps after 9 hours of use was reduced from 169.4 seconds on HyperOS 3 to 139.7 seconds on HyperOS 4. The first beta has been distributed in China since August 14 to the Xiaomi 17 series, REDMI K90 series, Xiaomi Pad 8 series, and others.
