The brand identity was designed by Little Plains, a New York-based branding and experience design studio. The studio was involved in Sonata's naming, brand strategy, positioning, language system, visual identity, motion design, and overall product interface. The name was taken from the musical form 'sonata,' which expresses emotions over multiple movements and an intricate structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The brand's signature graphic is the calla lily. The blend of blue, coral, and rainbow hues in the petals adds a soft and relaxed impression to the clinical data-driven service. By juxtaposing the elegant wordmark with a living flower, the design expresses the balance between a mathematical and precise medical system and human care. In terms of motion, the flower moves slowly, as if breathing, rather than rotating rapidly, and the interface is also designed to transition with a calm pace and sense of weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The product UX is designed to allow users to understand complex health information step-by-step. It explains results in simple language and illustrates the flow of data, such as genomics and biomarkers, gradually connecting to a single health state.
