While Codex originally started as an AI agent to assist with software development, it is now evolving into a work platform usable by analysts, marketers, operations managers, designers, researchers, investors, and financial practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to OpenAI, Codex is currently used by over 5 million people every week. Non-developers account for approximately 201 TP3 T of total users and are growing more than three times faster than developers. This means that Codex is shifting from a tool for writing code to a tool for handling the entire knowledge work. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"2160\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 3840 \/ 2160;\" width=\"3840\" controls src=\"https:\/\/designcompass.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/OpenAI_ChatGPTSites_Final-Update_16x9_2160p_video_noaudio.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Role-based plugins<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The highlight of this update is the role-specific plugins. OpenAI has released six plugins for data analysis, creative production, sales, product design, equity investment, and investment banking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each plugin bundles the apps, skills, guidelines, and workflows necessary for your work. In total, it includes 62 popular apps and 110 skills. For example, the data analytics plugin connects with tools such as Snowflake, Databricks Genie, Hex, and Tableau to help analyze metric changes and create reports and dashboards. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Product design plugins focus on transforming initial ideas into reviewable prototypes. You can explore product direction, check user flows, and create prototypes based on actual URLs. It also includes the ability to convert static screenshots into interactive screens. The deliverables can be further processed in tools such as Figma and Canva. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Codex Sites for Creating Sites Right Away<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI also released Codex Sites. Users can create interactive websites and apps with Codex and share them with their teams via URL. OpenAI describes these as work-oriented sites rather than static documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, you can create internal business tools such as sales forecast planners, event operations dashboards, and product launch hubs. OpenAI is also preparing a Sites partner ecosystem with Vercel, Wix, Base44, Replit, Lovable, Figma, Webflow, Emergent, and others. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Method of modifying results using comments<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Codex is also expanding its comment-based editing capabilities. Users can directly select the parts they want to modify in documents, spreadsheets, slides, and websites, and then request changes to Codex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, you can select the site&#039;s navigation bar and ask to change the font, or request that sources be verified for specific claims in an investment report. It is also possible to display charts on slides and request clearer labels. This method allows you to modify only the necessary parts while keeping the ones you like, without having to rebuild from scratch. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From Coding Tools to Business Operating Systems<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This update shifts the position of Codex. It is moving from a coding tool for developers to a work operating system used by the entire team. OpenAI explains that internal non-technical teams use Codex to build in-house apps, prepare executive materials, create dashboards, and produce work that reflects brand and design constraints. Zapier uses Codex to import information from Slack, Google Docs, Coda, and other sources, organizing it into post-mortem documents, incident response plans, and feature tickets. NVIDIA researchers are utilizing Codex to explore research ideas and write machine learning infrastructure scripts. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report released by OpenAI also shows the same direction. Knowledge workers are using Codex to create work deliverables such as reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and contracts. Rapidly growing use cases include data analysis, research, and the creation of work deliverables.
