Google has released a Gemini app exclusively for Mac. This marks the first time Gemini has expanded beyond Android and iOS to become a native desktop app. Mac users can now launch Gemini directly without opening a browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key feature of this app is accessibility. Users can launch Gemini instantly by pressing the Option and Space keys. A Gemini icon has also been added to the menu bar for faster access. The launch screen features a fill-shaped input window that reflects the Liquid Glass style Apple has recently been emphasizing. Pressing the plus button on the left allows you to attach files, Google Drive photos, and Notebook LM materials, and you can also immediately share the window you are currently viewing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tool layout is also noteworthy. Features such as image creation, video creation, music creation, Canvas, Deep Research, Guided Learning, and Personal Intelligence are located at the bottom. Some functions are placed within the More Tools menu. On the right, features for switching models, voice input, and opening the full app are provided. The overall interface is nearly identical to the web version, gemini.google.com, and the side panel structure is also the same. Usage history and activities sync with your Google account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google highlighted screen-sharing capabilities as a key strength of this Mac app. Users can share a window displaying complex charts and request a summary of key insights. Since local files can be handled directly within the Mac app, workflows for document review and data organization are expected to be streamlined. Tasks such as checking dates while writing market reports or asking for formulas in spreadsheets can also be handled immediately within the app. Google explained that creators can build images with Nano Banana and generate videos with Veo without interrupting their workflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
