Meta unveiled its new large language model, 'Muse Spark,' on April 8. This is the first model introduced by Meta's Superintelligence Labs and is currently deployed on the Meta AI app and website; it is scheduled to be sequentially expanded to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and AI glasses over the next few weeks. Meta also announced that it will provide a private API preview to select partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key point of this announcement is that Meta intends to develop its AI not merely as a general-purpose chatbot, but as a personal assistant deeply integrated across its entire service ecosystem. Meta described Muse Spark as a model designed specifically for its products. It also stated that it will sequentially add features that provide answers by citing recommendations and content shared by users on Instagram and Facebook threads. This can be interpreted as an attempt to shift the foundation of search and recommendations from the web as a whole to the relationships and contexts within the Meta ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meta AI itself is also changing. Users can switch between Instant Mode for quick responses and Thinking Mode for deep reasoning. It also supports parallel processing, running multiple sub-agents simultaneously so that one plans an itinerary, another compares destinations, and yet another identifies specific activities. Meta explained that this enables them to provide faster and better answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multimodal features have also come to the forefront. It is now possible to take a photo to compare products with high protein content or shine a light on a product to ask for alternatives. The health sector has also been strengthened. Meta stated that it collaborated with a team of doctors to refine its models to provide more detailed answers to health questions that include images and charts. It also highlighted a visual coding feature that allows users to create websites and mini-games using only prompts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
