Nintendo is distributing Virtual Boy \u2013 Nintendo Classics. The Virtual Boy is a stereoscopic video game console released by Nintendo in 1995. It features a design where the console is placed on a stand and viewed through a goggle-like viewfinder; it created a sense of depth by displaying different images to the left and right eyes. The screen was primarily a solid red color scheme, which established the device's identity, although there were reports of fatigue during prolonged gameplay. While the experimental nature of the attempt garnered attention at the time of its release, market performance fell short of expectations, and it is understood that Nintendo discontinued production and development around 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the service launch date, you can play Galactic Pinball 3-D, TETRIS, Teleroboxer, Virtual Boy Wario Land, The Mansion of Innsmouth, and GOLF RED ALARM. Features provided include rewind and the ability to check and change button controls. You can rewind slightly to just before a mistake to try again, and you can also reset the button layout to your liking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nintendo plans to sequentially release additional titles throughout 2026. Mario Clash, Mario's Tennis, Jack Bros, SPACE, INVADERS, VIRTUAL COLLECTION, VIRTUAL BOWLING, VERTICAL FORCE, and V-TETRIS have been announced. ZERO RACERS and D-HOPPER, which were unreleased at the time, are also scheduled for release in 2026. A feature allowing the screen color to be changed to colors other than red is also scheduled to be added in a 2026 update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This collection is playable on the Nintendo Switch II and Nintendo Switch, but requires dedicated hardware. Pre-orders for both physical and paper models are currently available on the My Nintendo Store, and an additional subscription is required to use the service. Nintendo also announced that the software is designed exclusively for 3D viewing. They stated that 3D perception varies from person to person and that the image may not appear three-dimensional depending on individual constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
