Google has unveiled a new feature that redefines the role of the web browser. Google announced the introduction of AutoBrowse, a Gemini-based automatic browsing feature, to Google Chrome for desktop. Powered by Google's latest AI model, Gemini 3, this feature provides an agent-like experience that performs real-world actions on behalf of the user while browsing the web. AutoBrowse is currently being gradually rolled out to paid subscribers of Google AI Pro and AI Ultra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AutoBrowse works through Gemini, which is embedded in Chrome's right sidebar. Users can interact with the current webpage and issue commands without switching tabs. Gemini replicates real-world user actions, such as clicking, scrolling, and entering text. Once a command is entered, Gemini notifies the user that the action has begun and proceeds with the navigation step by step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Google's example, when a user requests to purchase party supplies, Gemini connects to a designated shopping site, searches for items that fit their budget and theme, adds them to their cart, and completes the checkout process. It also automatically searches for discount codes and, with the user's permission, handles the login process using Google Password Manager. A Take Over task button is always displayed at the top to allow the user to intervene during the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this update, Chrome features a new side panel structure that enhances multitasking. You can now compare multiple tabs simultaneously or summarize reviews on a single screen. The Nano Banana image conversion feature has also been integrated into Chrome, allowing you to instantly edit visuals without downloading anything. Integration with Google apps like Gmail, Calendar, Maps, and YouTube has also been enhanced, supporting complex workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google plans to introduce personal intelligence features to Chrome in the future, reflecting personalized context. This will allow it to provide more proactive assistance based on users' past activity and preferences. AutoBrowse heralds a shift from simple browser assistance to agent-based browsing, where browsers actually perform tasks on the web.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
