Naver has completely rebranded "Naver Maps" for the first time in ten years, evolving it from a simple navigation app into a comprehensive platform encompassing all aspects of life. The key to this redesign is the introduction of a "Reservation" tab, connecting diverse offline experiences\u2014food, lodging, beauty, travel, and leisure\u2014with a single search and reservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new version, which went live on November 10th, allows users to experience a "one-stop journey" where they can search for a location on the map, then make a reservation, manage their schedule, receive notifications, and even schedule a return visit. Integrated reservations are now available for everything from restaurants and cafes to airline tickets, pensions, beauty salons, and even one-day classes. Naver's slogan, "The Start of Every Journey, Naver Map," embodies the idea that the entire process, from navigation to payment, can be handled on the map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naver underwent approximately a year of research and testing for this rebranding. The new logo, a 3D pin, symbolizes a journey that begins as a point and expands into space. The design team, responsible for the design, stated, "We adjusted detailed elements like the curvature of the pin head and the color angle to create a flexible and soft impression." The icon color, too, shifted from the previous monochromatic green to a gradient that transitions to blue, symbolizing "expansion and connection.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The service structure has also undergone significant changes. The bottom tabs have been reorganized into "Discover - Reservation - Public Transportation - Navigation - Save," and the "My" tab has been moved to the top, allowing you to manage your personal visit history, reservations, and reviews at a glance. When you make a restaurant reservation on the map, your schedule is automatically synced, and benefits and notifications are integrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technological advancements are also noteworthy. AR navigation uses augmented reality to provide accurate route guidance even indoors where GPS signals are weak, and the Flying View 3D feature allows users to view landmarks in 360 degrees, providing an immersive experience similar to exploring a real space. This is part of Naver's expansion into offline commerce, leveraging its accumulated spatial intelligence technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This rebranding aligns with Naver's Super App strategy. By creating a structure where users can navigate, book, pay, and review content all in one place without having to switch apps, the map service shifts its focus from "route finding" to "life experience platform.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naver plans to expand its service in the future by adding personalized features such as 'Share saved list', 'View driving score', and 'Count steps' to record users' overall movements and activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
