BMW has begun applying its new logo to its vehicles. The flat logo, which was unveiled in 2020, has so far only been used in advertising and digital content, and will be reflected on the exterior of vehicles for the first time on the 2026 iX3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new logo looks similar to the old one, but the details have changed. The black outer border and inner light blue-white quadrant are retained, but the silver line dividing them and the chrome ring inside have been removed. Instead, the outer and inner graphics have been simplified, with the outer and inner graphics running together like a single plane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"We wanted to keep the heritage, but with more precision,\" says Oliver Heilmer, Head of Design at BMW. The chrome outside the logo remains, and the shape and placement of the letters BMW has been refined. The black border has been replaced with a near-matte finish instead of a glossy one, and the white side has been brought closer to the perimeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First introduced in 2020, the logo was originally a design created for marketing and digital use. In its 2D form, stripped of chrome and dimensionality, it was not initially applied to vehicles. However, starting with the iX3, the logo is used on the exterior of the vehicle, as well as on the steering wheel and hubcaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BMW has also removed the blue outer border that had previously been reserved for electric vehicles. Going forward, both electric and combustion-powered vehicles will use the same logo, making it clear that the company wants to integrate electric vehicles as part of the overall product line, rather than as a separate line within the brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
