<\/figure>\n\n\n\nKakao announced that it will be holding a user-participatory donation campaign, "Taegeukgi Challenge in Chat," to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule, running until August 17th. For this campaign, Kakao will donate 815 won for each user who participates in one of four missions offered on the Kakao Together platform. All donations will be used to improve the living conditions of descendants of independence activists through Korea Habitat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participation missions include completing the Chunshik Liberation Day cake puzzle, taking a patriotism test, attaching a Taegeukgi sticker to Chunshik's KakaoTalk profile, posting a photo of himself with a Taegeukgi sticker or raising the Taegeukgi in front of his house, and finding 28 locations marked with a Taegeukgi marker on Kakao Map. Users can also donate directly through the Kakao Together Value Fundraiser, which will remain open until the campaign ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kakao Makers is selling four commemorative Liberation Day items (Chunshik's donation badge, phone case, t-shirt, and Rose of Sharon soap) and donating all proceeds. On the 30th of last month, history instructor Choi Tae-seong and I released "Rewriting the Memories of History: The Evolution of the Taegeukgi," highlighting the evolution and philosophy of the Taegeukgi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kakao Together has been running a Liberation Day commemorative campaign since 2013, donating a total of 3.21843 billion won to date. Kakao Makers has also donated approximately 240 million won from the sale of related goods to Habitat for Humanity Korea since 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
