Dutch smartphone brand Fairphone has unveiled its new flagship model, the Fairphone 6. This is the first new product in about two years since the Fairphone 5, which was released in 2023, and it has further enhanced modularity through new hardware and interchangeable accessories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fairphone 6 is 9% lighter than its predecessor, but is equipped with a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage (expandable up to 2TB). The display refresh rate has been improved from 90Hz to 120Hz. The battery has been increased to 4,415mAh and can be easily replaced by loosening just seven screws. It can be used continuously for up to 53 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camera consists of a 50-megapixel main camera on the back, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 32-megapixel front camera. This is a slightly lower specification compared to the Fairphone 5, which had 50-megapixels on both the front and back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the hardware configuration, the biggest feature of this model is the \u2018modular accessories\u2019. The lower back part can be easily separated with two screws to attach accessories such as a card wallet or finger loop. This is a design that considers user-customizable usability, like the recent CMF Phone series from Nothing. In addition, Fairphone has directly applied a ring to the main body for attaching a strap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the software side, there\u2019s a new feature called \u2018Fairphone Moments\u2019. When you activate the lime-green switch on the side of the device, the phone switches to a minimalist mode, displaying only up to five essential apps that the user has selected in text form. Fairphone emphasizes that this isn\u2019t just a simple \u2018focus mode\u2019, but a \u2018new experience\u2019 that helps users take more conscious control of their digital environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fairphone 6 is available in Europe for \u20ac599 through its online store and major retailers, while in the US it will be available from August for $899 in the 'Murena' edition with the privacy-focused \/e\/OS operating system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 12 parts inside the device can be replaced with a single common screwdriver, and it is provided with a 5-year warranty and up to 8 years of software updates until 2033. However, the water and dust resistance rating is IP55, so the water resistance performance is limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
