The Seoul Metropolitan Government is comprehensively improving the Bus Information Terminal (BIT) service to enhance the convenience of public transportation users. The city is continuously improving the BIT so that it can reduce the time spent vaguely waiting for a bus at a bus stop and make it easy for anyone to check information. As of 2025, a total of 5,816 units have been installed throughout Seoul, and approximately 4,048 of them are directly operated by the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIT is a device that shows real-time bus arrival information, and is a particularly useful transportation information tool for the elderly and the digitally vulnerable. Considering this, the city carried out a reorganization work focused on improving visibility and design. First, in order to make it more intuitive to know the bus arrival date, we moved away from simple text notation and displayed a bus-shaped image to make it more visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, by applying public design principles, the screen configuration has been simplified and information delivery has been improved. The previously fixed 'Arriving Soon' text has now been designed to flow along with the route number, allowing more bus information to be checked on one screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The voice guidance service has also been improved. We are helping citizens ride safely by reducing repetitive information and adding safety-related phrases. For example, the sentence \u201cPlease step back as the bus is coming in\u201d has been newly added. In addition, pronunciation errors have been corrected by changing the incorrect pronunciation of \u201c\ub2e4\uc2dc(-)\u201d to \u201c\ub2e4\uc2dc(-)\u201d according to the Standard Korean Dictionary. This function improvement is being piloted at 20 bus stops in Jongno Central Lane from November 2024 and is scheduled to be fully expanded by the end of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
