Dyson has unveiled the world's thinnest cordless vacuum cleaner, the PencilVac. With a diameter of 38 millimeters, it is a long and thin cylinder that houses the battery, motor, and dust bin, and is a completely different form factor from existing vacuum cleaners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design manager Sam Cole describes it as \u201ca single handle-like structure.\u201d Measuring 1.16 metres long, weighing 1.8 kilograms, and 95 millimeters high when laid flat, it can easily fit under a sofa or in the crevices of furniture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The core is Dyson's newly developed Hyperdymium motor. With a diameter of 28 millimeters and a rotation speed of 140,000 revolutions per minute, this motor generates a suction power of 55AW. This size and power are the result of considering ergonomic balance, and it is the same size as Dyson's hair dryer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cleaning head is equipped with four rotating brushes. These brushes, called Fluffycones, are cone-shaped and designed to naturally suck up long hair without tangling. Green LED lights are installed on both sides to easily check the floor dust. The dust bin operates with a compressed structure inside, allowing a lot of dust to be contained in a small space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The battery is replaceable, and the basic usage time is about 30 minutes. The dedicated magnetic dock allows for charging and accessory storage, and the dock also includes a spare battery charging function. The main unit is equipped with an LCD display to show the operating status and remaining time, and can be linked to the Dyson app to receive filter management notifications and maintenance guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pencil Back is a product optimized for hard floors such as wooden floors and tiles. It can clean thin rugs without difficulty, and in environments with thick carpets, it is recommended to use it in conjunction with a conventional upright vacuum cleaner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The product is scheduled to be released in Japan in 2025, and in global markets including the United States in 2026. The price has not yet been disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
