Google announced that it will significantly enhance its online shopping functions at its developer event Google I\/O in 2025. The features unveiled this time include a visual search panel based on 'AI mode', personalized price notifications and automatic payments, and virtual fitting technology, and will be implemented sequentially starting in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google's AI-mode shopping experience goes beyond simple product listings to provide visually organized panels and real-time personalized suggestions. For example, if you search for "luggage," a panel appears that displays product images that match your tastes at a glance. If you enter a more specific request, such as "May Portland Waterproof Luggage," the AI uses a "query fan-out" method that runs multiple queries simultaneously to find the best product for that condition. The results are updated in real time in the right visual panel, along with features such as water resistance and storage convenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users can also register products in the 'Price Tracking' section and set the desired color, size, and budget. After that, when the set price is reached, a notification will be sent, and when the 'Buy for me' button is clicked, Google will add the product to the shopping cart on the sales site and automatically process the payment with Google Pay. This feature is available for products in the US first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virtual fitting technology has also evolved. Previously, it was limited to providing images of models of various body types wearing clothes, but now users can upload full-body photos and experience virtual fitting. When you upload a photo of yourself wearing clothes that fit your body under bright lighting, AI analyzes your body structure and the material properties of the clothes to simulate them naturally as if they were real. This technology is based on Google\u2019s fashion-specific image generation model and supports billions of clothing products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The virtual fitting feature is available to Search Labs users in the US and works via the Try on button on items such as shirts, pants, skirts, and dresses. Users can share the results with friends or explore additional items in similar styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This announcement is considered a representative case of expanding the influence of AI technology in the online shopping sector, and heralds a major change in the virtual fitting and product search technology market led by startups such as Doji, Vybe, Cherry, and Deft. Meanwhile, ChatGPT and Perplexity have recently introduced AI-based shopping functions, rapidly changing the paradigm of search-based consumption experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
