Google has officially launched the mobile version of its AI-based note-taking app, NotebookLM. The service, which was only available on desktop last year, is now available on Android and iOS. This launch comes a day before the Google I\/O 2025 event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NotebookLM is a tool that helps you understand complex information more easily, providing smart summaries and document-based question-answering. In addition to these features, this mobile app has a new feature called Audio Overviews. It provides audio in the form of AI-summarized podcasts based on documents or materials uploaded by users, and can be played in the background or listened to offline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

App users can add documents or check existing materials in each notebook, and can easily add websites, PDFs, YouTube videos, etc. to NotebookLM through the share icon. This is a method that utilizes Google's share sheet, and provides great convenience in collecting and organizing content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The in-app interface can be sorted by a variety of filters, including recent, shared notebooks, title, and downloads, and each notebook is displayed as a card with an emoji, number of items, creation date, and an audio playback button. There is also a beta version of the \u2018Join\u2019 feature, which allows you to continue a conversation with an AI host.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the bottom of the screen, there is a list of resources, a Q&A conversation, and a studio function, which is similar to the existing mobile web experience but provides a more stable native app experience. However, the latest design system, Material 3, is not reflected yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NotebookLM mobile app automatically applies light and dark modes based on the user's system settings and provides a UI for both phones and tablets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google's strategy with this app launch is to expand its desktop-based services and provide a more flexible research and learning environment. Specific updates and future plans are expected to be announced at the Google I\/O 2025 keynote on the 21st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
