Amazon is testing a new feature called \u201cBuy for Me\u201d that allows customers to buy products that aren\u2019t available on Amazon directly from other brands\u2019 websites. The feature is currently available to some iOS and Android users in the U.S. via the Amazon Shopping app, and is being tested with a small number of brands and products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buy for Me works by showing products from external brand sites in addition to Amazon\u2019s own products when a customer searches for a brand\u2019s product. When a customer selects a product marked \u201cBuy for Me\u201d in the \u201cShop Directly on Brand Sites\u201d section, they are taken to the product\u2019s detail page in the Amazon app, where they can view product information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users can request that Amazon make the purchase on their behalf on the brand site by clicking the 'Buy for Me' button. They will then confirm the shipping address, tax, shipping cost, payment method, etc. on the Amazon checkout page, and Amazon will use the encrypted information to complete the purchase on the external brand website on the customer's behalf. This process is implemented using Amazon's agentic AI technology, and the customer's personal information is securely protected, Amazon explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After completing an order, customers will receive an order confirmation email from the brand store and can track the delivery status in the 'Buy for Me Orders' tab within the Amazon app. Returns, exchanges, and customer service are managed by the brand store and customers should contact the brand directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Buy for Me feature is built on Amazon\u2019s Nova AI system and Anthropic\u2019s Claude model. It leverages agentic AI\u2019s ability to automatically complete orders without customer intervention. Amazon says it\u2019s designed to give customers control over the AI agent, and brands can also opt in to the feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
