Nintendo has announced that its next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, will be officially released on June 5th. The announcement was made during a Nintendo Direct livestream event, and various features and games were revealed along with the new device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nintendo Switch 2 features a larger 7.9-inch HDR-capable LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate than the original Switch, and eight times the storage capacity at 256GB. The device comes equipped with a noise-cancelling microphone and a stand for tabletop mode. There are USB-C ports on the top and bottom, and 4K output is also possible when connected to the dock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Joy-Con 2 controllers that will be released together with the Switch 2 have adopted a magnetic attachment method and have a dedicated C button to call up the chat menu. A new control method that can be used like a mouse has also been introduced. The Pro Controller is also new and has rear buttons and an audio jack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the features of this model is the 'GameChat' function. The Switch 2 allows you to talk to your friends in real time through its own video and voice chat system, and also supports screen sharing. The function is free until March 2026, after which it requires a Nintendo Online Membership subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nintendo also revealed a new 'Switch 2 Camera' peripheral, which can be used for video calls as well as in-game functions, and can be used in games that support voice and motion recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the new games, the open-world version of Mario Kart World is drawing attention. It includes up to 24-player multiplayer and a new mode, and will be sold as a bundle with the console at launch. In addition, 'Zelda Warriors: Age of Exile', 'Kirby Air Riders', 'Drag x Drive', and 'Donkey Kong Bananja' will also be introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nintendo also announced a Switch 2 Edition, which adds new features to existing Switch titles. For example, Super Mario Party Jamboree includes a new mode that utilizes camera and mouse controls. Some titles are available for a reduced price as upgrades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nintendo Switch Online service will also be available on Switch 2, with an expansion plan that includes GameCube and Sega Genesis titles. Titles that will be featured include The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Soulcalibur II, and F-Zero GX. A number of third-party games were also announced, including Project 007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
