Swedish design brand PRINTWORKS has released a special chess set to celebrate the 100th anniversary of New Yorker. The chess set reinterprets iconic elements of New York City as chess pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chess set reflects New York\u2019s iconic architecture and everyday life in the city. The illustrations were created by Christoph Nyman, who has been creating covers and comics for The New Yorker since 1998. The queen piece is the Statue of Liberty, and the knight pieces are pigeons that fly all over the streets. The pawns are the iconic yellow cabs of New York, and their calm, one-step-by-one movement resembles an actual taxi on the road. The rook is shaped like the Brooklyn Bridge, and the bishop is inspired by the Chrysler Building. The king is designed to resemble a sophisticated gentleman who is typical of New Yorkers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRINTWORKS is a Swedish brand founded in 2017 that produces a variety of home decor products, including chess sets, photo albums, board games, and portable lamps.
