Instagram is testing a 'dislike' button for comments, allowing users to mark a comment as disliked or irrelevant. It will be available on both feed posts and Reels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said in the thread that the feature will be rolled out privately to users. The number of dislikes will not be public, nor will it be known who pressed the button. It will also likely be used to determine comment rankings in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSome people may have noticed a new button next to comments. This is a way for people to privately express their dislikes or dislikes if they find a particular comment offensive or inappropriate. This is a test at the moment, and the dislike count is not public. We may use this signal to rank comments in the future. Our goal is to make comments on Instagram a more positive place,\u201d Mosseri explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, app analyst Alessandro Paluzzi revealed that Instagram was testing this feature, and this announcement makes it official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meta says the test is part of a broader effort to improve comment quality. \u201cWe\u2019re exploring ways to give people more control over their Instagram experience. We\u2019re testing a new button that will let people flag comments that they find offensive or irrelevant. We\u2019re starting with a small group of people, and we may expand the test in the future. We\u2019re also looking at potentially demoting comments that receive a lot of dislikes,\u201d a Meta spokesperson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
