Hyundai Motor has unveiled two electric rickshaw concepts that are suited to India\u2019s transport environment. The models, which were showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi, have been developed with the aim of providing sustainable urban transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyundai Motor has collaborated with Indian motorcycle manufacturer TVS Motor Company to provide eco-friendly mobility solutions to meet India\u2019s changing infrastructure. SangYup Lee, Hyundai\u2019s Chief Design Officer, said the project was about upgrading the motor rickshaw, a common sight on Indian roads, and reimagining the three-wheeler for a fossil-free future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles that have been unveiled are designed to suit the Indian traffic environment. The angled windshield has been applied to improve visibility and enhance collision protection. The flat floor and extended wheelbase have been applied to improve ride comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three-wheeled vehicle is maneuverable even on narrow roads, making it suitable for commuting and transporting cargo, and can also be used as an emergency vehicle. The extended wheelbase provides ample legroom, and the foldable seat improves accessibility for wheelchair users. The large tires improve ride comfort, and the tow hook makes it easy to get away from road obstacles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering India\u2019s monsoon climate, the vehicle has a height-adjustable chassis. The interior has been finished with waterproof materials to enhance durability, and the roof is being tested with a glossy black paint that reduces thermal conductivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exterior color is blue, reminiscent of the Indian Ocean and the sky. The interior emphasizes practicality, with adjustable storage space, intuitive information displays, a mobile phone holder, and a pegboard-style panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyundai Motor and TVS Motor Company are currently in discussions to produce and market three-wheelers in India and are also exploring the possibility of entering the global market for four-wheelers. Since its establishment in 1967, Hyundai has grown into the world\u2019s third-largest automaker and is developing a range of innovative mobility solutions, including electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
