Mozilla, the developer of the browser Firefox, has changed its wordmark. Mozilla is an open source software development company founded in 1998 by former Netscape developers. It has created products such as Firefox, Thunderbird, and Bugzilla, and is famous for its Firefox brand design in collaboration with LaMotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2017 rebranding was a hot topic with a wordmark created through an open design project that received feedback from the community. London studio Johnson Banks received various opinions and a wordmark that borrowed :\/\/, which means Internet protocol, was adopted. The font was named Zilla Slab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Zilla slap has disappeared from the logo of the recent Firefox event webpage. The font of the wordmark by Mozilla written underneath Firefox has changed. Fortunately, it is not a dull, bland sans-serif in uppercase. The spur, where the strokes meet inside the a, and the terminal, where the strokes end, are angular. The serifs of the i and l are also angular and pixelated, giving a technical impression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wordmark and the dinosaur shape on the right are unique. Mozilla is a combination of the first web browser Mosaic web browser and Godzilla. The cult red Tyrannosaurus, which appeared in 1998 after using various dinosaur mascots for a long time, was created by Shepard Fairey, who created Obama's election poster. This symbol was not used since 2012 and disappeared after the 2017 rebranding. Some see this change as a revival of the symbol from Mozilla's long history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
