Milan Design Week 2024, one of the world's largest design events, has been held. From April 15 to 21, 2024, the streets of Milan will be filled with design. A variety of brands participate, presenting fairs, exhibitions, installations, pop-ups, talks and workshops in spaces across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milan Design Week began in 1961 as a furniture fair called Salone del Mobile. Since its inception 60 years ago, it has grown into the world's largest furniture fair, with more than 2,300 companies participating. We've compiled a list of brands that prepared impressive events at this Design Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salone del Mobile runs from April 16th to April 21st. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of SaloneSatellite, showcasing emerging designers under the age of 35. We present Eurocucina, a biennial exhibition focused on kitchens and bathrooms. David Lynch designed the pavilion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fuorisalone runs from April 15th to April 21st. We focus on sustainability under the theme Materia Natura. It presents events, exhibitions and installations across the city with a focus on circular economy, reuse and sustainable materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most impressive thing is Design Space AIUIa, which has a desert-like impression. Designed by studio sabinemarcelis and CLOUD, the exhibition featured several objects and accessories, including a modular sofa system and biodegradable pots. Cultural practices were reinterpreted from various perspectives based on materials and traditional crafts. A 3D printed pod that reproduces a natural rock pillar in leather, a sofa system made of fabric reminiscent of desert clothing, and lighting that resembles the floating sun create a fantastic atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hermes installed a huge flag-shaped structure on the floor. In the area divided by X, geometric patterns were depicted using raw materials such as brick, stone, slate, wood, and earth. It expresses well that inspiration comes from motifs taken from horseback riding and textures from nature. You can take a look at the impact raw materials have had on Hermes' leather and textile products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Samsung presented \u2018Newfound Equilibrium\u2019, a unique exhibition using light. An interaction screen where atypical images take shape as the viewer passes by, five cubes with soft colors floating around, an installation that mixes virtuality and reality with a beam projector, and Samsung's technology, such as a bespoke product that became part of a huge tower. We designed an immersive experience using The purpose seems to be to convey that Samsung's home appliances provide greater value in everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google prepared 21 open box rooms in a dark room. This is an interactive exhibition planned in collaboration with Chromasonic, an LA-based art research institute. You can step into one of the boxes, listen to the sound frequencies, and feel the rhythm and vibration with your whole body as the neon lights change with the beat. Google always seems to focus on how 'color' affects people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japanese design studio We+ installed the beautifully swaying 'Straordinaria'. Inspired by the lightness of clouds, we expressed a natural flow. The way it sways in the wind is like a beautiful balloon. Visitors can walk inside through a short, maze-like structure to take a closer look. \u00a9fondazionecasoli<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a great event where you can see designs from around the world at a glance. In particular, I think the exhibition is more attractive because it focuses on the human experience itself, which is difficult to measure quantitatively. It's a pity that I can't visit in person this time, but I really want to see it in person next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
