Uber launches luxury electric vehicle sharing service \u2018Uber Comfort Electric\u2019 in New York City. We are also launching a new product feature called \u2018Emissions Scorecard\u2019 to encourage customers to make eco-friendly choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uber first launched Comfort Electric in May 2022, which allows you to travel in luxury EVs such as Tesla, Polestar, and Ford Mustang Mach-E. Comfort Electric is a service that is provided together with \u2018Uber Black\u2019, which allows you to add more comfortable options, and \u2018Uber Green\u2019, an electric vehicle service. When you use Uber Green, you pay an additional fee (usually $1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is currently available in approximately 40 cities in the United States and Canada. Until now, New York had limited the number of EV licenses distributed by taxi unions, but regulations were lifted, allowing more EVs to be operated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Emissions Scorecard uses a 5-point rating system, similar to a typical review system. When customers using EV Summon open the app, they'll be notified of how much they've prevented from putting emissions into the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are also increasing support to help drivers switch to electric vehicles. You can search for charging stations directly in the driver app and use charging stations such as EVgo, Wallbox, etc. at a discounted price. Additionally, by using Battery-Aware Matching, a newly developed feature, you can only receive requests for the round-trip distance possible with the current battery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uber has set a goal to become a zero-emission platform by 2030. Since the company cannot interfere with the driver's choice of vehicle, it does not seem easy to convert all drivers to electric vehicles in the near future. However, as interest in a better environment grows, I think it may not be an impossible challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Humanity is growing faster than we think, and the environment and resources that we thought were comfortable are being consumed quickly. I hope that individuals, companies, and governments will take more actions to contribute to a better environment so that humanity can prosper and realize amazing possibilities that we have never seen before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
