Adobe has released a new feature called "Turntable" in the Illustrator Public Beta. This feature, previously unveiled at Adobe Max last October, uses AI to automatically convert 2D illustrations into 3D, allowing you to rotate them from various angles. It can be used for character sheet creation, animation work, product views, and asset creation, and is significant in that it speeds up workflows and maintains consistency.
Turntable automatically generates side, front, and back views while preserving the artwork's colors, lines, and style. The original file remains safe, and the new views are created separately, so you can experiment with confidence.
It's also simple to use. First, prepare a clean vector-based illustration and group all elements. Then, click the turntable icon in the control bar or properties panel. Multiple viewpoints will be automatically generated, and you can change the angle using the slider. You can insert the desired viewpoint onto the canvas, adjust the height and angle with the arrow buttons, or reset it to its original pose.
This feature is not yet available to all users and will be updated sequentially over the next few days. Adobe stated that it will actively collect user feedback on this feature and continue to improve it.
The introduction of this turntable is being evaluated as a tool that significantly reduces the repetitive task of 'viewpoint switching' in the digital illustration production process, allowing artists to focus more on their original creation.

A feature that lets you “turn” your 2D artwork to view it from different angles. With just a few steps, you can generate multiple views without redrawing from scratch.
